A tasty, beefy stew-ish recipe from Paula Deen.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients:

  • 1½ lb cubed round steak, cut into thin strips

  • House seasoning (see below)

  • All purpose flour (for beef)

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 1 medium onion, sliced

  • 8 oz fresh mushrooms, slices

  • 1 can (10¾ oz) beef broth

  • 1 can (10¾ oz) cream of mushroom soup

  • Salt

  • Ground black pepper

  • 1/3 cup sour cream

  • Cooked egg noodles

House Seasoning:

  • 1 cup salt

  • ¼ cup ground black pepper

  • ¼ cup garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Prepare house seasoning by blending all ingredients together thoroughly.

  2. Season the steak strips with the house seasoning, then dust with flour.

  3. In a large skillet, warm olive oil and butter over medium-high heat, and brown the meat on both sides. Remove the steak from the pan.

  4. Add the onion slices and mushrooms to the pan drippings. Saute for a few minutes, until the onion is tender.

  5. Sprinkle with 1 tsp flour, and add the steak back into the pan and stir.

  6. Add the mushroom soup and beef broth. Cook over low heat for about 30 minutes, covered.

  7. Adjust seasoning to taste by ading salt and pepper as needed.

  8. Stir in the sour cream the last few minutes, right before you serve.
