Liliana's Chocolate Cake

Liliana's awesome chocolate cake is a straight-forward baking project that makes a lot of cake. Add icing and a jam to fill between the layers.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cups unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • 1½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350º F. Grease and flour two 9" round pans.
     
  2. In large bowl, stir together sugar, flour, cocoa pwder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Mix for 2 min. on medium speed of mixer.
     
  3. Stir in the boiling water last. Batter will be thin. Pour evenly into prepared pans.
     
  4. Bake for 40-45 min in the preheated oven until the cake test is done with a toothpick. Cool in the pans for 10 min then remove to a wire rack to cool completely.
