A straight-forward, hearty stew. This is Camille's recipe, and is more of an American-styled stew.

Ingredients

  • ¼ to ½ of the onion

  • 1-2 cloves garlic

  • 2-3 potatoes

  • 3-5 carrots (slightly more carrots than potatoes)

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tbsp butter

  • 1 package beef stew meat

  • 1-2 tbsp flour

  • 2-3 tsp house seasoning (salt, garlic powder, pepper mix)

  • 3 cups stock (I think we use 2 chicken and 1 beef bouillon)

  • 2 tbsp cornstarch and a little water

Instructions

  1. Cut the weird stuff off the meat and cut into bite size chunks

  2. Season the meat with the house seasoning

  3. Flour the beef

  4. Peel and chop potatoes and carrots into bite size chunks

  5. Finely chop onion and garlic

  6. Saute onion and garlic in oil and butter

  7. When soft add the brown sugar

  8. Throw in the beef and let it brown for a few minutes

  9. Add the veggies and stock

  10. Boil on low for about 25-30 minutes

  11. Start the rice so it will be done at the same time

  12. Once the potatoes are cooked through add the cornstarch to a little water and slowly stir into the boiling stew to thicken.

  13. Cook 1-2 more minutes and you’re done.
